Galician Beef Protected Geographical Indication

The Galician Beef Protected Geographical Indication, starts its operation in the year 1989, dedicated to the complete control of the manufacturing process for beef and veal Galician. The meat sold under the aegis of the IXP. Galician Veal calves born exclusively, raised and slaughtered in Galicia, who come from indigenous breeds and their crosses and overcame a rigorous program of integral control.

Calves are controlled from birth, in breeding (feeding, healthcare) until slaughter. Feeding these animals is done through breast milk, forages and concentrates from plants, guaranteeing that these are natural products that allow to obtain a natural meat and also high quality. Slaughter of cattle, mostly, is performed within a few months of life, which guarantees a cherished flavor and quality assurance.

Depending on the power receiving, the age at which they are slaughtered and the type of establishment in which they are raised, Protected Geographical Indication, can certify three different types of meat: Galician Veal, Supreme Galician Veal and Galician Veal Añojo.

The beef certified by the IGP, is duly appointed by the certificates of guarantee and the back label that corresponds in each case, and allows the consumer, identify a high quality product, 100% Galician and natural.
