Red wine – Viña Pomal 106 Barrels Reserve 2013
This limited edition is a tribute to the birth of Viña Pomal in 1908, coinciding with the vintage 2010, a vintage historic Bodegas Bilbaínas, and qualified as excellent by the Regulatory Council of the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin. ISsta special edition is the result of a selection of 106 barrels made by Alejandro López, winemaker of Bodegas Bilbaínas. 90% Tempranillo, 5% Grenache and 5% Graciano, raised 20 months in barrels of French and american oak (Reservation). The design of the label has been recovered in the same blue color Bilbao, city that gives its name to Bodegas Bilbaínas.
Combine on our farm D. O. Ca. Rioja the different ecosystems in function of the variability of the soil and the sun exposure, what that translates to in a comprehensive selection of homogeneous areas. The viticulture is applied arises from a mixture between traditional rioja and the precision, resulting in a growing commitment to innovation in order to protect the nature, always under the parameters of maximum quality.

- View: Cherry with garnet of medium-high intensity.
- Nose: Roasted notes with licorice and black fruits, flowers of violet and fennel. Background mineral notes, chocolate and fine woods (cedar).

With more than a hundred years old, Bodegas Bilbaínas has been faithful to the philosophy that a day dream of its founder Santiago Ugarte in 1901.
Registered as signature bottling oldest in La Rioja, is proud to be the winery with the largest area of underground cellars underground of the territory (3.400 m2) and with the greater surface area of vineyard in the municipality of Haro arranged around. All in all they are 250 Has a quality uniquely nurturing home-grown grapes to the winery, this ensures a fast processing without loss of quality.
Set in the heart of the neighborhood of the station Haro, its strategic location allowed it from the start to take advantage of the train as means of transport for getting their wines to any corner of the planet. Today, Bilbaínas has some of the wines and champagnes more prestigious and emblematic Rioja among which are his classics Viña Pomal, Viña Zaco, Ederra, Royal Carlton and The Vicalanda, as well as their Unique Wines of Maturana, Tempranillo white, Graciano, Grenache.
Bodegas Bilbaínas has 250 hectares of vineyards of his ownership. These cater to the 70% the production of the winery, while 30% remaining comes from growers in the area. Produces a few 2,4 millions of bottles a year, and belongs to the group Codorniu.
